1877 - At Boston, Will White shuts out his future team Cincinnati by a score of 14-0. White would go on to play for two Reds franchises. The second Reds club in which he defeated in this game and the current Reds franchise which began in 1881. White ranks sixth on the modern Reds club's all-time wins list.

1878 - At Avenue Grounds, the Reds shutout Boston, 3-0. Charley Jones hits a two-run triple to help guide to the victory.

1899 - The Reds hammer Cleveland's Crazy Schmidt by a score of 19-3, collecting 22 hits and 8 walks.

1902 - At the Polo Grounds, Reds rookie pitcher Henry Thielman defeats his former team by a score of 2-1. Thielman began the season with the Giants. Cy Seymour scores both runs for Cincinnati.

1919 - In Chicago, the Reds defeat the Cubs, 6-1. Pitcher Dutch Reuther helps his cause by steeling home in the 4th inning.

1941 - The Reds leave Chicago for Pittsburgh minus their manager Bill McKechnie. Deacon mistakenly took a plane which was bound for Detroit and missed the game. His club loses, 3-2.

1947 - Ewell Blackwell grabs his twenty-first victory, defeating the Pirates, 13-6 before 37,299 people at Forbes Field. Blackwell strikes out twelve batters.

1969 - The Reds hand the Cubs another loss, behind the two-hitter pitching performance of Jim Maloney. The Cubs who once had a nice lead in the NL East is now four games out of first place.

1972 - In the bottom of the 9th inning, Hal McRae hits a game winning two run pinch hitting home run to defeat the Expos, 4-3.

1875 - At the Ludlow Grounds, 250 fans watch their Luds defeat the Hartfords by a score of 6-4. Future baseball star Charley Jones scores two runs in the match for Ludlow.
