1868 - Harry Wright's Red Stockings defeat George Wright's Unions of Morrisania, 13-12 at the Union Grounds. The Union loss would end a twenty five game winning streak.

1889 - The Blue Law defeats the Reds again when Cincinnati tries to stage a Sunday game in Hamilton Ohio. The local authorities nip the game in the bud.

1918 - The Reds defeat the Boston Braves in 13 innings, 4-2, with Edd Roush driving in two runs. Magee, who scored the winning run, would later admit that him a teammate Hal Chase each bet $500 bucks that Cincinnati would lose this game.

1946 - A young girl's pursuit of rookie Grady Hatton's autograph caused the Red to fracture his right knee cap. As he was running  down the dugout runway, he tried to avoid the girl and smacks into the a brick wall.

1962 - Joey Jay snatches his 20th win with a 7-6 victory over the Colt 45's. The victory brings the defending National League champs within three games of first.

1973 - Ken Griffey Sr. makes his major league debut. Dan Driessen shows him how it's done and drives in five runs. Griffey gets two hits. Reds defeat the Cardinals, 6-4.
