1877 - Jack Manning is named captain of the Reds, replacing Bob Addy. In Manning's debut, the Reds fall to Boston, 10-4.

1921  - At Ebbets Field, the Reds destroy the Dodgers in the 10th inning, scoring five runs and winning the game by a score of 7-2.

1923 - Sammy Bohne and Pat Duncan of the Reds deny under oath that they were approached by gamblers to throw games against the Giants.

1948 - Pitcher Harry Gumbert hits his only hit of the season, clubbing a homerun in the tenth inning, giving his Reds a 3-2 victory over the Phillies.

1962 - The Reds club 21 hits as they defeat Chicago 14-3.
