1876 - Cal McVey, who played for the original Cincinnati Red Stockings, has the odd distinction of pitching and catching in a game. His Chicago club defeats the Reds by a score of 5-0. Teammate Albert Spalding gets the win.
 
Cincinnati Reds III
 
1899 - The Reds sweep Boston in a double header and set a club record of 12 straight victories.
 
1953 - In Chicago, the Reds Andy Seminick hits a grand slam in the top of the ninth to end a 6-6 tie and give Cincinnati a 10-6 victory.
 
1976 - The Machine turns it on in the 8th and 9th innings, scoring 7 runs iin a 8-3 victory over Chicago. Foster hits and Morgan hit homers in the 8th and Foster works his magic again in the 9th with Bench following.
