- At American Park the Reds defeat the Cleveland
Spiders in 15 innings by a score of 6-5 when
John Reilly drives in the winning run.. |

1897
- During a game in Chicago, a fire breaks out in
the grandstand of West Side Grounds. Thousands
of fans started stampeding and tried to tear
down the barded wire fencing that had been put
in the 25-cent bleachers. Jimmy Ryan and Walt
Wilmot helped tear down the wire by hacking at
the fence with baseball bats, which allowed fans
to escape onto the field. The game is called
with Chicago gaining the victory, 8-1. |

1905 - The Reds score eight runs in
the 1st inning and finish off the Brooklyns with
a final score of 19-6. Miller Huggins scores
five of the nineteen Cincinnati runs. |

1918 - At Ebbets Field, the
Reds shut out the Reds by a score of 5-0. Before
the game, teammates Lee Magee and Greasy Neale
break out into a fight. The Cincinnati teammates
had to split the two up. |

1977 - Before a Cincinnati
crowd of 50,000, the Reds are beaten by the
Pirates in both games of a double header.
Pirates launch the first home run to reach the
red seats in Riverfront Stadium and in the
second game Frank Tavaras hits an
inside-the-park grand slam in the 2nd inning. |

Reds touch up Steve Carlton for an 11-6 victory.
Carlton recorded his 4,000th strike in the match
to join Nolan Ryan in the 4,000th strikeout
club. |

Joe Morgan's induction is delayed by a day due
to rain. The ceremony is conducted the next day
