- At Bank Street Grounds, the Browns' Tony
Mullane pitches a no-hitter into the ninth
inning. Cincinnati's offense erupted,
scoring four
runs and ended the Count's no-hitter. |

1905 - At League Park, the Reds' Charley Chech
pitches a 5-0 shutout over Brooklyn. Reds' first
baseman, Shad Berry, helps the cause with a
successful hidden ball trick on rookie Charley
Malay. |

1919 - At Redleg Field, the Reds drop the final
game of the series with the Giants, 4-0. New
York's manager, John McGraw, yells at the
Cincinnati crowd "We beat you today and we'll be
glad to get out of the home of the Huns." Angry
at his comments, a Cincinnati policeman
takes a swing at McGaw‚ but he misses and hits
former Red Hal Chase. Chase then hits the cop‚
and as the crowd surges‚ mounted policeman stop
them. |

1951 - The Reds come from
behind and beat the Dodgers by a score of 5-4.
The victory came in 14 innings when pitch hitter
Hank Edwards drives in the tying run with a
double. Edwards scores the winning run on a wild
pitch. |

1989 - At Riverfront Stadium,
the Reds destroy the Astros, 18-2. Major league records set during the
onslaught include most hits in an inning (16)‚
most players with two hits in an inning (7)‚ and
most singles in an inning (12). Mariano Duncan
and Luis Quinones each tie the major league record by
batting three times and the team ties the National
League and ML
mark with most players scoring twice (6). |

1994 - In San Francisco, the
Reds hammer the Giants‚ 17-4‚ on twenty four hits as former Giant Kevin
Mitchell gets five hits and five RBIs against his
former teammates. Mitchell strokes two singles‚
two doubles‚ and a homer as the Reds collect
twenty four hits. |

2012 - Boosted by a superb
showing from starting pitcher Mat Latos, the
Reds take the series opener from the Pirates,
3-0, in front of a sellout home crowd of 40,829.
Chris Heisey scores first with an
inside-the-park homerun and Latos added to the
lead with a two run shot in the 5th inning.
Actors and avid Reds fans, Martin & Charlie Sheen were in
attendance.
Following the game, Marty Brennaman shaved his
head after promising to do so in July if the Reds could
win ten straight. On July 29th Cincinnati did
just that, winning their tenth straight game. Brennaman lived
up to his word. |
