narrowly defeat the Rockford Forest Citys,
15-14. Cincinnati squeaks out the win scoring
three runs in the 9th inning for the victory. |

1877 - The Reds defeat Hartford
by a score of 9-8. Cincinnati fell behind early
in the game, down by seven runs in the third.
However, the Reds rallied to edge Hartford in
extra innings. Will Foley kicked off the rally
in the third when he scored on a wild throw by
Hartford's shortstop Tom Carey. |

get whipped by the Pirates, 11-2. Pittsburgh
scored a run in every inning. |

Astros by a score of 2-0. Pitcher Joe Nuxhall
hurls a one-hitter, losing his no-no in the 8th

1978 - At Shea Stadium, Pete
Rose extended his hitting streak to 37 games.
Rose collects two hits which tied the modern
National League record. Mets pitcher, and former
Red, Pat Zachry kicked the dugout steps in
frustration after being pull. Zachry broke his
toe which ended his season. |

2012 - In Houston, the first
place Reds win their sixth straight game,
defeating the Astros, 4-2. Drew Stubbs' two-run
shot off of former Reds reliever Coco Cordero in
the 9th gives the Cincinnati a 3-2 lead. Xavier
Paul drives in an insurance run for good
measure. |

Kel's are destroyed by the St. Louis Browns by a
score of 20-12. The Browns score in eight of the
nine innings played. Despite the trouncing,
Reds' pitcher Frank Dwyer twirled the entire
game. |

1990 - The Global Hockey League
announced it's in discussions to put a team in
Cincinnati to play at Riverfront Coliseum. This
coming twenty days after the announcement that
the East Coast Hockey League planned to put a
team in the Gardens. The Global Hockey League's
plan was to take on the National Hockey League,
similar to the World Hockey Association from
1972 to 1979 but the GHL never took shape. |
