The Cincinnati Base Ball Club was established in
the law offices of Tilden, Sherman & Moulton in
downtown Cincinnati. The club would be an
amateur team until 1869. |

1880 - In Providence the Reds
are white-washed by the Grays, 5-0. Had it not
been for Blondie Purcell's lead-off hit in the
1st inning, Providence's Montgomery Ward would
have pitched a no-hitter. |

1901 - At Pittsburgh's
Exposition Park, the Reds are clobbered by the
Pirates, 9-2. The Bucko's Fred Clarke hits for
the cycle. |

1904 - At League Park, the
Beaneaters and Reds split a double header.
Cincinnati loses the first game, 3-1, but bounce
back and win the second game by a score of 15-1.
Cincinnati's Cy Seymour hits two singles, two
doubles and a triple, scoring five runs. |

1962 - At Crosley Field,
Reds' pitcher Jim O'Toole takes a no-hitter into
the 8th inning and loses it in the 8th inning
after a double from Bob Skinner. O'Toole settles
for a one-hitter as his club defeats Pittsburgh
3-0. On the same day Reds' greats Bill McKechnie
and Edd Roush are inducted into the Baseball
Hall of Fame. |

1963 - At Wrigley Field, Reds'
pitcher Jim Maloney hurls a one hitter and
defeats the Cubs, 1-0. Ellis Burton hits a
single in the first inning for Chicago. |

1970 - In Chicago, the Reds
receive their only shut of the season, losing to
the Cubs by a score of 1-0. The winning pitcher
was former Red Milt Pappas |

1991 - The Reds defeat the Cubs
by a score of 8-5. During the game, Nasty Boy
Rob Dibble chucks a ball at Doug Dascenzo as he
is running to first base. Dibble is fined for
his actions by the National League office. |

2000 - Tony Perez, Sparky
Anderson, Bid McPhee & Marty Brennaman are all
inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame. All
Reds inductees. It would be the most inducted by
a single club at one time. |

2005 - Cincinnati sends third
baseman Joe Randa to the Padres for pitchers
Justin Germano and Travis Chick. |
