1898 - In Baltimore the first
place Reds grind out a 5-5 tie against the
Orioles in 12 innings. When Baltimore scored the
tying run in the 9th Reds manager Buck Ewing
hurls a ball over Orioles Park grandstand in
frustration. As a result he is tossed from the
game. |

1905 - The Reds defeat
the Braves at South End Grounds by a score of
3-2. The game ended with Boston hitting into a
triple play. With men on first and third, Braves
batter Ed Abbaticchio grounded to short. Tommy
Corcoran threw to second baseman Miller Huggins
for the force out. Huggins noticed the runner on
third, catcher and future Reds manager Pat
Moran, was halfway home. Huggins threw to
catcher Admiral Schlei who tagged Moran and then
tossed the ball back to Huggins who tagged out
Abbaticchio who was trying to head to second
base. Huggins scored two putouts and an assist. |
