Cincinnati Reds III
-
1900 - At League Park, the Reds defeat Philadelphia by a score of 4-0. Cincinnati's pitcher Noodles Hahn hurls a no-hitter in the winning effort.
-
1905 - At South End Grounds the Reds and Braves split a double header. In game one Cincinnati hammers the Braves, 15-3. The Reds racked up seven runs in the 6th inning. The second game the Braves prevail with a score of 3-2. Prior to the game Reds manager Joe Kelley tried to persuade Boston manager Fred Tenney to play a 7 innings in the second game because of the terrible heat. He refused.
-
1906 - The Reds sell hitting stud Cy Seymour to the Giants for $12,000. Seymour, who hit .377 the year before which is a club record for the highest batting average in a single season, was hitting .257 leading up to the sale. Team manager Ned Hanlon claimed the sale would strengthen his club. Hardly. Seymour hit .320 as a Giant.
-
1910 - In Brooklyn, the Reds edge the Dodgers in extra innings by a score of 1-0. Pinch-hitter Ward Miller drives in the only run of the game.
-
1967 - All Star Game. In Anaheim, the Reds third baseman, Tony Perez, hits the game winning homerun for the National League, ending a 15 inning, three and a half hour match. The longest All-Star Game ever. Final score, 2-1.
-
2000 - The Reds trade whining pitcher Denny Neagle to the Yankees for third basemen Drew Hanson, outfielder Jackson Melian and pitchers Brian Reith and Ed Yarnell.
