Red Stockings get hammered by the Atlantics of
Brooklyn, 40-19. In the eighth inning, Brooklyn
scored 15 runs to seal the deal. It would be one
of the worst defeats of the season. |

1883 - At Bank Street Grounds, the Reds clobber the Orioles by a score of 23-0.
Charley Jones scored four runs, while Carpenter,
Reilly, Corkhill and Fulmer scored three. Every
Reds player scored at least once. |

1911 - The Reds defeat the
Boston Rustlers by a score of 12-11.
Cincinnati's Johnny Kling and Patsy Doherty hit

1918 - The Reds' Pete Schneider
takes a 10-0 one-hitter into the 9th inning
against the Phillies at Redland Field but walks
six batters, forcing in three runs. After two
relievers, the Reds finally pull out the win by
a score of 10-9. |

1919 - At Redland Field,
the Reds and Pirates play a twin bill with
Cincinnati taking both games. The first game was
completed with a final score of 8-1 but the
second game was stopped in the 6th inning, with
the Reds leading 2-0. The game was stopped in
order to let the Reds catch a train to Boston.
The final three innings were finished on July
27th with Cincinnati winning 3-1. |

1926 - Cincinnati defeats the
Cardinals by a score of 5-2 in 11 innings. Wally
Pipp hits a two run homer in extra innings. The
victory would give Cincinnati a five game lead
in the standings. |

1934 - At Sportsmen's Park the
Reds edge the Cardinals by a score of 16-15.
Catcher Ernie Lombardi collects five hits,
including a triple, a homer and six RBI's. Lom
makes the final out of the game as well when Leo
Durocher tries to score at the plate. |

1940 - At Wrigley Field the
Reds defeat the Cubs, 4-0. Paul Derringer hurls
a one-hitter, giving up only one run to Stan
Hack in the 6th inning. |

1949 - At Crosley Field the
Reds hammer the Cubs, 23-4. Cincinnati collects
26 hits. The Reds' Walker Cooper gets six hits
in seven at bats, including three homeruns, ten
RBI's and five runs. |

2012 - At Petco Park the Reds
end their three game losing streak by shut
outing out the Padres, 6-0. Cincinnati pitcher
Bronson Arroyo goes the distance and hurls a
three-hit shutout. |
