1867 - The Cincinnatis open their new ballpark, Union Grounds, with a win over Louisville, 60-24. Union Grounds would serve as home to the Red Stockings until the club was disband in 1870. Cincinnati's Museum Center sits by the spot where Union Ground once stood.

1882 - In game one the Cincinnati Reds battle to a 9-9 tie in a morning exhibition game against the Philadelphia Athletics. The second match was a regulation game that had the biggest crowd of the season, 5890. The Reds lost by a score of 6-1 in a sloppy match that saw Cincinnati commit 12 errors. Cincinnati native and East Ender, Buck Ewing, did the umpiring honors.
-
1886 - At American Park, the Reds whip the Athletics, 8-0, before a festive crowd of 6,500. George Pechiny got the shutout. The game was played on Sunday and local police threatened to enforce the blue law but the game went on without incident.

1929 - The Reds and Cubs split a double header with Cincinnati taking game one and Chicago taking game two. In game one a fight broke out between Reds pitcher Ray Kolp and Cubs outfielder Hack Wilson. Kolp heckled the outfielder mercilessly throughout the game and in the 8th inning Wilson had enough. After the Cub hit a single he turned the Reds dugout and slugged Kolp in the head and fists went flying. Cincinnati's Chuck Dressen tagged Wilson out during the melee.
