battle to a 9-9 tie in a morning exhibition game
against the Philadelphia Athletics. The second match was a
regulation game that had the biggest crowd

1929 - The Reds and Cubs split
a double header with Cincinnati taking game one
and Chicago taking game two. In game one a fight
broke out between Reds pitcher Ray Kolp and Cubs
outfielder Hack Wilson. Kolp heckled the
outfielder mercilessly throughout the game and
in the 8th inning Wilson had enough. After the
Cub hit a single he turned the Reds dugout and
slugged Kolp in the head and fists went flying.
Cincinnati's Chuck Dressen tagged Wilson out
during the melee. |
