1882 - In 14 innings, the Reds
defeat the Alleghenys
by a score of 5-2 at the Bank Street Grounds.
The game ended on a triple play when Pittsburgh
had a runner on first and second. Reds
shortstop, Chuck Fulmer, let a pop fly drop in
front of him and threw to third base for the
first out. Carpenter threw back to Fulmer at
second for the second out and the Pittsburgh
batter, Johnny Peters, was throw out at first
base because he didn't bother to run. |
