funds by owner Josiah Keck. The club would be
reorganized three weeks later by new owner J.W.

1893 - At League Park the Reds
smash their Ohio River rivals, Louisville
Colonels, by a score of 30-12. Cincinnati scored
14 runs in the 1st inning and totaled 55 total
bases. Cincinnati tallied 19 singles‚ 4 doubles‚
5 triples‚ and 3 homers. |

1907 - At League Park,
Cincinnati lose to the Giants 4-3. Reds catcher
Admiral Schlei becomes the first Cincinnati
catcher to wear shin guards. He tested the them
out in the 9th inning of the game. |

played in Cincinnati history. The match was
between Elks Lodges of Cincinnati and a Newport
Kentucky club. The Elks won by a score of 8-5.
Local papers reported that the lights were
sufficient to illuminate the infield, but the
outfielders had trouble seeing the ball. |
