1876 - In Philadelphia, the Athletics tee-off on the Reds, hammering Cincinnati by a score of 20-5.  Philadelphia's George Hall and Ezra Sutton both hit three triples. This would be the first and currently only time two players did such a thing in one game.

Cincinnati Reds III

1921 - Commissioner Landis suspends Reds pitcher Ray Fisher for life for jumping his contract with Cincinnati to coach at the University of Michigan. This despite Fisher receiving permission from the Reds to accept the position.
