extra innings by the New York Mutuals, 1-0. The
game was played in Brooklyn's Union Grounds.
First baseman Joe Start scores the only run.
Start's "ace" was scored on a questionable call
by the umpire when Reds' second baseman Charlie
Sweasy fielded a hit and hurled the ball to
catcher Amos Booth. Booth tagged Start but the
umpire declared him safe. The four hundred fans
in attendance were shocked an many left in
disgust. |
