1876 - Cincinnati travels to Elizabeth, New Jersey and shuts out the Resolutes in an exhibition game by a score of 11-0.

Cincinnati Reds III

1883 - The Reds travel to Brooklyn, New York for an exhibition match against the Atlantics for the first time, defeating the club 5-1 in a five inning game. The Brooklyn Atlantics would go on to join the major league ranks the following year and eventually the club would become known as the Dodgers.

1940 - The Reds lose to the Dodgers in eleven innings by a score of 4-2. Pitcher Bucky Walters' winning streak ended at nine games.

1964 - The Reds defeat the Cardinals, 11-6, behind Deron Johnson's homer, double and three singles.

1967 - In Cincinnati, the Reds fall to the Giants by a score of 4-3. Cincinnati pitcher, Gary Nolan, struck out fifteen batters, including Willie Mays four times.

1970 - The Reds defeat the Mets with a 10-2 whipping. Johnny Bench drove in five runs. The victory would give Cincinnati a commanding nine game lead in the National League West.

1975 - At Riverfront Stadium, the Reds defeat the Cubs by a score of 7-1. The win would move Cincinnati into first place in the National League West, where they would stay for the rest of the season.

1981 - The Reds' Bruce Berenyi twirls a one-hitter, beating the Expos by a score of 2-0. In the fourth inning, Andre Dawson got the only hit.

1982  - The Reds draft Tom Browning, Kal Daniels and Barry Larkin. Larkin was opted to go to college instead and was redrafted in 1985.

Cincinnati Unions (Outlaw Reds)

1884 - At Union Grounds in St. Louis, the first place Maroons defeat the second place Unions by a score of 8-5. There was much dispute over whether the match should count in the standings due to the fact that the official umpire never showed up. Cincinnati's George Bradley stepped in to be the arbiter of the affair but the rules of the league stipulated that in such a circumstance, the game would be considered an exhibition. When all was said and done, that is exactly what happened.

1885 - The American Association lifts all restrictions in how the pitcher delivers the ball. This change allowed pitchers to hurl the ball over handed and no longer under or side armed. The National League lifted the ban in 1884.
