|
1878 - In Chicago, Cincinnati
whips the club, 13-2. In the third inning, Lip
Pike drilled the ball over the centerfield
fence, which cleared a freight shed and some
railroad cars. However, the hit only counted as
a double because of the ground rules at
Lakefront Park. The Chicago field's fence was
only 200 feet. |
