- At Avenue Grounds, during a 5-0 loss to
Boston, umpire John Draper left the field on
account of heckling and booing from Reds fans
who were upset over a call against their home
club. John Brockway was taken from the stands to
finish out the game behind the dish. |

- A Boston court refuses a restraining order
requested by the Reds on Sam Wise‚ who remains
with the Boston Beaneaters of the National
League.
On the same day, Cincinnati crushed the Alleghenys in an exhibition game at Bank Street
Grounds by a score of 18-4. |

1889 - At American Park, the
Reds clobber Baltimore, 14-5. Already leading by
a score of 8-2, Cincinnati ran the score up on
the Orioles in the eighth inning, collecting six
more runs. Every Reds batter got at least one
hit in the game. Bug Holliday, George Tebeau and
Jim Keenan all hit home runs. |

twin-billing with the Phillies, winning the
first game by a score of 15-4. Ernie Lombardi
clubbed four consecutive doubles, tying a major
league record. The second game, Cincinnati fell
by a score of 5-4. |

Cubs by a score of 5-3 in Cincinnati. In the third
inning, pitcher Mario Soto struck out four
batters as a result of Chicago's Bob Dernier
reaching first when the ball skipped past
catcher Brad Gulden on a swinging third strike. |

Cincinnati defeats Boston, 13-3. The Unions had
their way with the Beantown boys, collecting six
singles, three doubles, two triples and two home
runs. Dan O'Leary and pitcher Dick Burns
provided the dingers. |
