Welcome
vintage base ball cranks to the website of the
Ludlow Base Ball Club. Located on the Ohio River
across from Cincinnati, Ludlow, Kentucky and
base ball grew up together. Base ball mania
engulfed Ludlow and neighboring Ohio River
cities after the Civil War. The Ludlow Base Ball
Club emerged from the pioneer base ball era to
bring the professional game back to greater
Cincinnati in 1875, five years after the famous
Cincinnati Red Stockings disbanded.
The Ludlow
Base Ball Club returned in 2011 as a vintage base
ball club to explore the vintage game, encourage
efforts to preserve Ludlow’s history, and
support research in greater Cincinnati’s
sporting heritage. The Luds
play all of their home games at Lemker Field in
Ludlow Kentucky and by the rules of 1874.
