The Cincinnati
RailRaiders
were granted a voluntary suspension for the
2006-07 season by the American Hockey League
Board of Governors on Tuesday.
The
franchise, formerly known as the Cincinnati
Mighty Ducks, was seeking a return in 2006-07
after being granted a voluntary suspension for
the 2005-06 season due to the lack of an
available NHL affiliate after the Mighty Ducks
of Anaheim signed a new agreement with the
Portland Pirates. However, franchise officials
did not reach a goal of 2,000 season ticket
deposits to return to active status.
"We continue to own
the franchise and the AHL rights in Cincinnati,"
Cincinnati Gardens president and CEO Pete
Robinson said. "What the future holds for the
franchise will be determined at a later date."
