Cheverie Cyclones Shutout Nailers, 2-0.
Cincinnati Cyclones Website
11-06-2010

One night after posting a career-high 44 saves, Cyclones goaltender Marc Cheverie turned aside 38 shots to earn his first professional shutout and give the Cincinnati Cyclones (2-5-2-1) a 2-0 win over the Wheeling Nailers (6-3-0-0) at WesBanco Arena on Saturday night.

For just the third time this season, Cincinnati was able to score first when Sam D’Agostino swatted home a loose puck past Nailers goalie Mattais Modig (L, 14 saves, 1-2-0) at the 13:24 mark for his third goal of the season and a 1-0 Cyclones lead.  Little did they know it then, but that would be the game-winning goal.

That’s because Cyclones netminder Marc Cheverie (W, 38 saves, 2-2-1-1) stood tall throughout the contest, including 18 saves in the second period and 14 more in the third.  However, he made his biggest save of the night in the final seconds when he dove out with his paddle to deny the Nailers the would-be tying goal.  After that big save, Mathieu Aubin broke free and stashed an empty netter to seal the victory, making it 2-0 Cincinnati.

The Cyclones were 0-for-3 on the power play tonight.  Wheeling finished 0-for-6.

The defending Kelly Cup Champions will return home next Wednesday night when they will host Toledo at 7:30pm.  It will be another "Wet Wednesday" where fans can purchase $1 Pabst Blue Ribbon and Miller High Life.
