Mike Kelly's threat to put green stockings on the Cincinnati Association club was no joke. The Cincinnatis, in their games with the St. Louis Browns, are wearing blue uniforms with green stockings. The make-up is a good one, and the Kelly men look well on the field.

President Von der Ahe came over from St. Louis yesterday to look after the work at the new Cincinnati Park and to attend to other details. He is enthusiastic over the outlook for the Association, and says that the biggest crowd ever seen in Sportsman's Park will be there to-morrow to greet Mike Kelly and his men. President Von der Ahe returned home last night. President Renau and other officials of the Cincinnati Association team will leave to-night to witness the game between the Browns and the Cincinnatis to-morrow.

The fences and stands at the new American Association park will be ready for the opening of the season next Saturday, but it is hardly likely that the graders will have the grounds ready to play on by that time. The bad weather has held the contractors back in their work. If there is good weather from now on until next Saturday everything will be ready for the opening. President Renau said yesterday "it will make little difference to us whether the park is ready or not at the stipulated time. (Unreadable) will do is to switch the opening series from here to Columbus and then when the park is ready have the Columbus team come here and pay us back those games.

• Ed Andrews of the new Association team will make Cincinnati his home during the season. He will bring his wife and two children here this summer.
