The Red Stockings leave to-day, in charge of
Billy Elliot, for Milford, where they play the
Champion Amateurs of Ohio. Thence they go to
Louisville to cross bats with the Olympics and
Eagles. They will be back Thursday night, and a
game with the Red Stockings of Boston - the
famous "Bostons" - who are the champions at
present of the United States, will soon after
follow.
This is to be a gala week in base-ball locally.
To-day the Chicagos will meet the Stars on the
grounds of the latter in Covington. To-morrow
the Chicagos will contend with the Ludlows on
the grounds which were made historic yesterday.
On Friday the Ludlows play the Bostons, while
the games of the Bostons with the Stars and Reds
will follow, if, indeed, arrangements are not
completed whereby the Cincinnatis will be the
first local club to cross bats with the
champions. |

The vanquished White Stockings play the Stars a
match game on the grounds of the latter club
this afternoon, and the victorious Reds go to
Milford to play the club named in honor of that
flourishing village.
We understand that Colonel Joyce left for St.
Louis last night, to make arrangements for a
game between the Reds and the Brown Stockings.
The high waters of Mill Creek having left the
Ludlow Avenue Base Ball Grounds, in the
Twenty-fifth Ward, a game will be played
Thursday afternoon between the Blue Stockings
and Amateurs of Cincinnati. The Amateurs are not
"slouches" by any means, as their name would
indicate, in the base ball business, and a
lively game may be expected. The grounds are
easily reached by the Marietta and the
Cincinnati, Hamilton and Dayton Railroads, and
the Avenue street railroad route. |
