1889 - In St. Louis Cincinnati rallies thanks to four Browns errors in the 9th inning, scoring four Reds runs. Final score 5-4. St. Louis winds up losing the American Association pennant by two games to Brooklyn.

1893 -  At League Park the Reds defeat the Boston Beaneaters, 7-5. Reds second baseman Bid McPhee experimented with using a glove in this game but chose to continue to be "old school" and not wear one. He finally gave in during the 1895 season.
