1882
- With a 6-1 victory over the Louisville
Eclipse, the Reds capture their first franchise
pennant. It would be their only league
championship during the 19th century. The Reds
wouldn't win another league pennant until 1919. |

1894
- The Reds drop the first game of a double head
to the Orioles, extending their winning streak
to 18 games. Cincinnati bounces back in the
afternoon game, defeating Baltimore 4-3 to end
the streak. |

1896
- In Pittsburgh the Reds shut out the Alleghenys
in a double bill. First game the final score was
11-0 and the second game was 4-0. Irate
Pittsburgh fans throw stones‚ a board‚ and a pop
bottle at umpire John Sheridan. He is rescued
from a crowd of 200 angry spectators by players
from both teams. Billy Rhines and Frank Dwyer
get the wins. |
