1878 - The Reds blow it in the bottom of the ninth inning, surrendering five runs to Chicago. Final score 7-4.
 
CINCINNATI REDS III
 
1894 - In Boston, Cincinnati pitchers allow a major league record of 43 runs in a doubleheader.. The first game, 25-8 and the final game, 18-3. The second game was called due to darkness in the sixth inning. Reds pitcher Tom Parrott is suspended for two weeks due to "indifferent play."
 
1896 - The Reds, who spent most of the season in first place, loses to the Boston Beaneaters, 10-9. The lose drops the club out of first place and began an eleven game losing streak which ended Cincinnati's pennant hopes.
