1876 - At Avenue Grounds, Cincinnati loses to the Chicago White Stockings by a score of 11-5. It would be the first of many loses the club would suffer over the course of the season.

CINCINNATI REDS III

1885 - Before a crowd of 2,500 cranks at American Park, the Reds are shutout by St. Louis, 6-0. Will White gets the loss. Cincinnati manager O.P. Caylor fines his players $25 each for their failure to score a run.
