CINCINNATI REDS III

1887 - Tony Mullane pitches a regular-season game in Missouri for the first time since 1883. The Missouri injunction obtained against him by the St. Louis Unions in 1884 having finally been resolved‚ Tony leads the Reds to a 5-2 victory over the Browns.
-
1891 - Opening Day. The Reds stage the first Opening Day parade prior to the game against the Cleveland Spiders. A light drizzle kept many fans away. Only 4,000 people were in attendance to watch Cincinnati fall by a score of 6-3.
-
1898 - Reds' pitcher Ted Breitenstein twirls a no-hitter against Pittsburgh. Final score was 11-0. Jim Hughes of Baltimore pitched one as well, making this the first time in major league history that two nine-inning no-hitters were hurled on the same day.
