1886 - Opening Day for the Reds is protested when the umpire refuses to put a new ball into play despite the new rule making 2 new balls available at all times.
-
1892 - The National League plays their first ever Sunday game when Cincinnati whips St. Louis, 5-1. It would be the Reds first Sunday game as a franchise since 1889 when the club was a member of the American Association.
